WITCHCRAFT UNMASKED
1
When someone says witchcraft do you think of painted faces and drums? Think again ...
- Witchcraft is both a sin of the flesh and a category of demonic spirits that control.
- Witchcraft works with fear like the flip sides of a coin. It often uses fear and intimidation as its calling card. It is like the cat that stands sideways and arches its back. It then looks larger and more intimidating. When it is present, it distorts reality.
There are levels of engagement with the demonic.
For our purposes we will reference ground-level engagement. Witchcraft is a sin of the flesh.
- Galatians 5:19-21 Now the works of the flesh are manifest, which are these; Adultery, fornication, uncleanness, lasciviousness, idolatry, witchcraft, hatred, variance, emulations, wrath, strife, seditions, heresies, envyings, murders, drunkenness, revelings, and such ...
- 1 Samuel 15:23 For rebellion is as the sin of witchcraft, and stubbornness is as idolatry ...
- James 3:14-16 But if ye have bitter envying and strife in your hearts, glory not, and lie not against the truth. This wisdom descendeth not from above, but is earthly, sensual, devilish. For where envying and strife is, there is confusion and every evil work.
In the digression above, what starts out as envying and strife, moves from earthly to devilish!
These carnal sins bring in confusion and every evil work! It is like throwing the doors of your home wide open. It allows creeping critters and wild animals access. Of course you would never do such a thing. So consider what you are doing when you engage in such strivings of the flesh. You open a feeding frenzy for demons.
Demons' best work is undercover, hidden behind seeming natural occurrences. In the scriptures above it is clear that our actions have a direct correlation in the spirit. People engage in gossip, defending, contending, and taking sides. They fail to recognize what is happening in the realm of the spirit that can strongly affect them.
Walk in the spirit, not in the flesh. This prevents their nefarious work from taking hold.
Paul warns against this very thing in the book of Galatians. His admonishment is one that needs to be seriously considered today.
- Galatians 3:1-3 O foolish Galatians, who hath bewitched you, that ye should not obey the truth, before whose eyes Jesus Christ hath been evidently set forth, crucified among you? This only would I learn of you, received ye the Spirit by the works of the law, or by the hearing of faith? Are ye so foolish? Having begun in the Spirit, are ye now made perfect by the flesh?
Think about that warning. First, you are bewitched when you think you can be acceptable to God by your own effort (flesh). If that is not enough, when you walk in the flesh you provide access to a host of unwanted company. Selah!
