She generally gave herself very good advice, though she very seldom followed it

Dumping station ahead

  • Am I open to exploration of new ideas, willing to lay everything down, and become a seeker of truth?

My foundational beliefs are the same as I was taught as a child, please note the word foundational.  At its core — Jesus Christ, but built around that soul saving truth were many unbiblical doctrines.

The glaring errors made it easy for me to avail myself of the dumping station!

Jesus said If ye continue in my word then are ye my disciples indeed; and ye shall know the truth and the truth shall make you free. (John 8:31-32)

The teaching I received gave me partial truth.  I had the knowledge of right and wrong, but no knowledge of His life within — the power to change!   I was not free, but bound in helplessness.

When you think of your beliefs, perhaps it is good to question yourself using Dr. Phil's "How has that been working for you?"  No matter if you are looking at old-time religion or new age theology, the question applies.  Pursue the full truth, it will set you free.

You are destination bound!

I welcome you to follow along at whatever stage of the journey you find yourself.  Agreeing, disagreeing, or undecided, all are welcome.

J.  R.  R.  Tolkien wrote of the poem the Hound of Heaven:

"The name is strange.  It startles one at first.  It is so bold, so new, so fearless.  It does not attract, rather the reverse.  But when one reads the poem this strangeness disappears.  The meaning is understood.  As the hound follows the hare, never ceasing in its running, ever drawing nearer to the chase, with unhurrying and imperturbed pace, so does God follow the fleeing soul by His Divine grace.  And though in sin or in human love, away from God it seeks to hide itself, Divine grace follows after, unwearyingly follows ever after, till the soul feels its pressure forcing it to turn to Him alone in that never ending pursuit.
—The Newmann press book of verse, 1988

God has a destination for you.  It is bound up in relationship with Him!  Let's follow the good advice Jesus gave . . . continue in His word and be His disciples indeed!

If I can be of any help, let me know —  I work for the Hound of Heaven!
