May I answer your question by asking you a question?  What kind of spiritual journey are you looking for? 

By definition spiritual is of or pertaining to the spirit or soul, as distinguished from the physical nature.  Many psychic phenomena present themselves as spiritual, although they are more a function of the human soul.  Often spirit beings intervene and assist that function.  These spirit beings can disguise themselves as beings of light and goodness.

...for Satan himself is transformed into an angel of light.  Therefore it is no great thing if his ministers also be transformed as the ministers of righteousness; whose end shall be according to their works.  2 Corinthians 11:14-15

 God is Spirit and they that worship him must worship him in spirit and in truth. John 4:24  Everything related to God is spiritual and understanding with our mind will never bring us into interactive relationship with the living God.  All you need to do is to consider the learning of the Apostle Paul and Nicodemus, both educated from infancy in the scriptures, to realize more is needed.

So how does one enter a relationship with God?  You must be born-again of the Spirit.  With that new birth, God gives the faculty of spiritual sight.  It is not a doctrine, but a revelation of Jesus Christ on the inside of you. 

That which is born of the flesh is flesh; and that which is born of the Spirit is spirit.  Marvel not that I said unto thee, Ye must be born again.  John 3:6-7

But  when it pleased God, who separated me from my mother's womb, and called me by his grace, To reveal his Son in me . . . Galatians 1:15-16

God reveals His Son in us and that divine action begins the true spiritual journey.  Continual growth in the capacity to see God, behind the words of the Bible, the events of life and so on, enables and empowers that journey.
