FREEDOM IS MESSY

The book of Exodus finds God’s people in captivity in Egypt. God hears their cry for freedom and sends Moses. Moses brings a command for Pharaoh — let my people go![i]
Does the oppressor immediately respond and release the people? No. Not only does he not release them, he increases their oppression. We know that their deliverance came, but let’s consider the process. First the declaration, next more oppression, FINALLY release.
Is there a Pharaoh in your life, figuratively or literally, that holds you captive? Are you at the place of being willing to do anything for freedom? If so, you are in a good place.
Back to Pharaoh’s response . . . Whatever your oppressor is, mental, physical, spiritual, or all of these, expect a strong counteraction to your request. It is not that God has not heard. It is that the enemy HAS heard and will fight.
As the battle raged between God and Pharaoh, everyone in Egypt experienced the messiness of the battle. There were ten plagues, each profoundly affecting the people. These plagues caused: all the water to be turned to blood, a deluge of frogs, lice, flies, dead livestock, boils, hail, locusts, darkness and death!
God raised Pharaoh up and hardened his heart in order to show His power! Understanding that the process will be messy, gives you courage and strength as God brings you into freedom.
He will show Himself strong on your behalf. Your job is to choose to walk out of Egypt.
Now is not the time to bow down again under Pharaoh’s threats!
It is time to MOVE!!!
