SPIRITUAL TRUTH -- more caught than taught

Spiritual truth is more 'caught than taught'. Stop and think about that statement. We are so accustomed to understanding things with our mind that we expect all information to assimilate the same way. Information may process that way, but truth can be derived differently, especially spiritual truth.
Understanding with our mind, has by default, the premise that we have a grasp of all knowledge. In other words, we know how everything works and only need our focus sharpened. That is, however, quite a proud attitude when you think about it. If you want God’s thoughts on that read the book of Job. Job was perfect and upright and one that feared God, and eschewed evil.[i] The discourse in the book of Job gives us a view from God’s perspective! God’s ways are not our ways, as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are God’s ways than our ways. [ii]
To say spiritual truth is ‘more caught than taught’ presents teaching in another light. We learn by observation, intuition, experience, and revelation as well. To expect to read a book and understand the things of the Spirit is to limit ourselves greatly.
Take the opportunity to read spiritual writings and be around spiritual people and environments. Watch, listen, seek God and discern. For things you are unsure of, put them on the shelf. You do not have to accept or reject things you don't understand. Wait until you have light from God, which makes all things visible.
Now is the time to press in to the things of the Spirit. Keep your hand, heart, and mind open to catch
everything God has for you.
[i] Job 1:1
[ii] Isaiah 55:8-9
