WHEN IN DOUBT . . . DON'T
DECISIONS, DECISIONS, DECISIONS . . .
Sometimes it feels that is all we do. Simple little strategies can often help to keep us on track.WHEN IN DOUBT . . . DON'T is one such strategy.
I have used this principle even in small shopping decisions. Uncertainty can waste so much time. I follow this rule until I can make a clear decision. At times, I quickly realized I really did not want the item. On a few occasions, I have returned to make the purchase with confidence. With this simple strategy, I am really giving myself time and space. I am removing myself from the pressure of the moment.
In decisions that are more important, this will give you time to discern the will of God. Neither your voice nor the voice of the enemy can withstand testing for very long. They will both lose strength. The voice of the Spirit, however, will get stronger and more persistent.
I know of a similar principle used in one ministry . . . "If you need an answer immediately, the answer is NO." This too allows you time to hear God and stop the pressure.
Remain sensitive to the Spirit and the many ways He speaks and leads. As we commit our ways to the Lord He will direct our steps.[i]
