THE CANVAS OF REVELATION

The Divine artist paints pictures on the canvas of our heart.

He gives impressions and opens heavenly realities with brushstrokes in varying shades of color and intensity.

Many times in the process of seeking to know the will of God for our lives, we interpret what we hear in a literal way.  When Jesus spoke to the disciples, He did use literal objects to convey reality in the spiritual realm.

Jesus spoke of things that people understood, such as wheat and tares, to paint a picture.  He warned the disciples to beware of the leaven of the Pharisees. He was not speaking of literal leaven, but of their erroneous doctrine.

It is important to learn to listen and then wait on God for the meaning of what we perceive — not allowing our  mind to build a picture from our current understanding.  We see this in the Bible when we read, 'This is that which was spoken of.'

The Holy Spirit often brings revelation in pieces. Once we are accustomed to pondering things in our hearts and waiting on God, we have, in essence, a canvas on which a revelatory picture can be painted.

CANVAS PREPARATION

The canvas of revelation
is prepared in much the same way that an artist prepares to paint.  The work begins with the preparation of the canvas.  Stretching is the first step.  He stretches the canvas onto a frame measured to the desired size.

God stretches those He calls. He stretches them in every way to fit them to the size of His calling. The Bible is replete with the history of God dealing with His chosen vessels.

Next, the canvas is primed. There are several layers of primer required to prepare the surface to receive the artists vision.  Primer makes the canvas stiff, able to hold up through time.  It also seals the canvas, preventing the oil from seeping through the fabric.

God primes His vessels to withstand the test of time.  He seals us with His Spirit.  He is present as comforter, counselor, helper, intercessor, advocate, and strengthener.

Allow God to prepare the canvas of your heart to suit the revelation He desires to display through you.

Expect God to paint His revelation on the canvas of your heart!
