DO YOU EVER FEEL OSTRACIZED

Ever feel like you are on the outside looking in?
Possible feelings . . . You just don't seem to fit in. You march to the beat of a different drummer. You feel rejected, inadequate, or just plain invisible!
If the answer is yes, perhaps you need to consider your options.
- You can wait until someone invites you in. However, it could be a long wait. In addition, it is possible you have felt this way most of your life, which exasperates the wait.
- You can begin a deconstruction project.
If you are thinking “there it is again, I never get it right” or any other negative thought about yourself or your ability, you just discovered your starting point. Congratulations, your first positive step!
Now that you have a starting point, I challenge you to write every negative thing you have said or felt about yourself. You will probably end up with categories like this:
- Genuine failures, sin, missed opportunities, foolishness etc.
- Perceived lack due to comparing yourself to others.
- Feelings of inadequacy resulting from contracted comparison disease.
Next, let’s clean up the debris in the same order.
- Are you a believer? If so, it is about time to reinforce that claim. God’s Word is clear that “no good thing dwells in me (that is, in my flesh).”[i] So why expect anything else?
- Time to act wisely! Scripture says “those comparing themselves among themselves, are not wise.”
- You are God’s own handiwork, recreated in Christ Jesus for good works, which God predestined for you. He has paths which He prepared ahead of time that you should walk in.[ii]
God does not call the equipped — He equips the called.
God created you with specifications that fit His call on your life. You are unique. He provides everything you need as you step out, move, and refuse to accept less.
Remember, now that you are in the construction business, you can create something totally new and unique. . . YOU!
Build yourself up with the truth of the Word.
Reinforce your image by looking at yourself as God sees you in Christ.
There is only one you! Let your light shine so others can discover the person God created.
When you finish, remember to invite others in. Find those who feel ostracized and encourage them to begin their own transformation!
