ALL THINGS SPIRITUAL
You are a spiritual being created to relate to God who is Spirit!
How often have you heard reference to God being Spirit?[i] God is spirit. There is no article in the Greek text before the word spirit, and that emphasizes the quality or essence of the word. Furthermore, the word spirit occurs first in the sentence for emphasis. The literal idea would be something like, “Absolutely spirit in His essence is God.” Jesus did not leave any doubt about this truth. God is spirit! [ii]The Bible instructs that we must worship God in spirit and truth. Everything relating to the Kingdom of God relates to a spiritual kingdom.
Our enemy is a spiritual enemy. We are required to receive by faith, a spiritual activity. We are to pray, walk and live in the spirit.
With all these instructions, how much do you know about your spirit? After all, this faculty enables interaction with the spirit realm.
The body, the soul, and the spirit have their own set of senses. Through the body, we contact the material world. Our body gives us world-consciousness.
The soul, which is comprised of intellect, emotion, and will, reveals our personality. Our soul gives us self-consciousness.
The human spirit is the part of us that enables us to commune with and apprehend God. Our spirit gives us God-consciousness. New birth occurs in man’s spirit, where he receives God’s life through the Holy Spirit.
The soul is the meeting point of spirit and body. It links the spiritual world through the spirit and the material world through the body. With man’s free will, he chooses whether to follow the body (flesh) or follow the spirit.
The senses of your spirit enable you to relate to the spiritual realm. Confusing the senses of the soul with those of the spirit greatly hinders spiritual life and growth.
Every communication of God with man occurs in man’s spirit. If one cannot discern their spirit, they are liable to substitute the thoughts or emotions of the soul, thinking it is spiritual direction.
Learn to differentiate your soul and spirit. Learn to maintain your spirit in a quiet state, open and undefiled.
Defining questions may be:
- Is your spirit shining?
- Is your spirit open or closed?
- Is your spirit timid?
- Is your spirit submerged, leaving you feel like it does not even exist?
The Holy Spirit dwells deep in your innermost being, in your spirit. Care and maintenance of your spirit is crucial in your relationship to spiritual things.
All things spiritual – recognize that you have a spirit. Learn the interworking of spirit and soul. Remember, every communication of God with man occurs in your spirit.

I like this post for several reasons. The intention to change people's identity back to Truth is extremely important today in a culture where false human physical science and evolution have corrupted our understanding of WHO WE ARE. Indeed the bible teaches that we have a body, spirit, and soul. The fascinating genius mixture of matter and spirit, which we have struggled through time to understand greatly glorifies the magnificence of our Divine God! Praise him for his greatness! Praise him for his power!

Thanks David for your comments. Reading them made me think of John G. Lake's words on spirit. "One of the most difficult things to bring into the spirit of people is that the Spirit of God is a tangible substance, that it is the essence of God's own being." He goes on to describe the materiality of earth and that of heaven. Heavenly materiality is Spirit and the spirit of man must contact and know the real Spirit of God, know God . . . Great book, powerful ministry -- if you haven't read it I highly recommend it.
