NO NO NO ... NOT first thing in the morning

Bzzzzzzzzzz, Bzzzzzzzzz . . .

MOO, TIME TO GET UP … MOO, MOO, MOO …

A blaring alarm clock . . . not what you want to hear first thing in the morning!  Nevertheless, most everyone needs a wakeup call!

Sound sleepers may have to rely on the more obnoxious alarm clocks.  Like the cow clock for instance, that repeatedly bellows moo, moo, moo, get up lazy bones.

God does not resort to such means.  He does not cajole or coax us to come and spend time with Him.

However, scripture does speak of the morning watch.  Even Jesus, the Son of God, left His disciples to be with His father, sometimes all night.  Imagine that, even the Son of God needed quiet time alone with God to receive revelation and direction.

Did Jesus have our busy schedule?  Let’s consider that.  He often had multitudes waiting for Him.  At one point, He had to get out in a boat to get away from the crowds, and then they persisted and met Him on the other side!  Does that equal your busy schedule?

As the Israelites journeyed in the wilderness, God provided manna.  They had to gather it before the sun grew hot or it would melt.  God still lays out a table of precious food for those who forsake their bed early to seek Him.

In the quiet of the morning, when not a creature is stirring, listen for the whisper of His Spirit.

It is a special time reserved for intimate communion and union with God.

When you first begin, prepare yourself to embrace the discipline required to continue the morning watch.  Our flesh is strong and easily discouraged.  Approach God in faith and receive whatever He presents.  At times it may be a slow and steady stream of revelation, other times overflow, sometimes even seasons of dryness.

Learn to receive all things from His hand by faith and with a thankful heart.  He will not disappoint!

And ye shall seek me, and find me, when ye shall search for me with all your heart.i

Love the post Barbara! I still struggle with finding quiet time first thing in the morning. It's because of my dogs (not mice stirring). Once we're up - they want their walk - so we go and I pray walk. Of course, when I get home I grab my java and Bible and find a quiet place (like my office) and do my devotionals. Thanks for the reminder...
p.s. I love the cow alarm
